Thanksgiving Holiday Hours

We will close today, November 23rd at 1:00PM. We will be closed Thursday, November 24th and Friday, November 25th. The library will reopen Saturday, November 26th at 9:00 AM.

Don't forget, you can manage your library account from home on the library's website. You can see what you have checked out, due dates, and any fines you might have. You can also place holds and renew items checked out on your account.
If you don't know how to do this, come in to the library and we will be glad to show you how!

Summer Change Up

We are in the process of redesigning our Summer Reading Program for the elementary and preschool kids. Next summer, 2012, it will no longer be done on the computer.

Family Story Time

Brianne presents Family Story Time for kids ages six and under, at 7:00 PM, Tuedsay, November 22. She will share books about the Farm. Great opportunity for a special time with your child before the hubub of the holidays. Come in your pajamas if you want to!
Children under the age of seven must be accompanied by an adult while at the library.

Kansas Reads to Preschoolers -Tomorrow at Preschool Story Time

Tomorrow at Preschool Story Time we are participating in Kansas Reads to Preschoolers when we read "Chicka Chicka Boom Boom" by Kansas author Bill Martin, Jr.! Preschool Story Time is for kids aged 3 to 5 years and their parent or caregiver.
We meet in the Clymer room for 30 minutes with songs, stories and a craft! See you there!

Earthquake in Oklahoma! Shake, Rattle and Roll!

Did any of you feel the earthquake late Saturday night! I did! I was in Oklahoma and it was pretty exciting. I had never been in a earthquake before and was suprised by how much noise there was! It sounded like really loud, rumbling thunder.

I made this list of books about earthquakes that we have in the Children's Department. Come in and check one out!

Book Sale / Bake Sale

Friday and Saturday, November 4th and 5th, the Friends of the Bradford Memorial Library are holding a Book Sale and a Bake sale. Friday hours, 9-5, Saturday hours 9-2, in the Clymer room, on the lower level of the library.

Books, DVD's , CD's videos and more, all going for $5.00 a bag. What a DEAL! See you there!

Family Story Time tonight

Tonight's theme is "Black and White and Read all Over", referring to stories about black and white animals. The fun starts at 7:00 pm and is open to kids aged 6 and under. You can even come in your pajamas! Join Brianne in the Clymer room for this fun program.

Hugo, the Movie

Have you read "The Invention of Hugo Cabret", by Brian Selznick, yet? There is still time to get it read before the movie comes out in late November.  Don't be intimidated by the thickness of the book, it won't take as long to read as you might think. Much of the story is told in illustration, in fact, it won a Caldecott award in 2008 for the illustrations. The 3-D movie is called "Hugo" and is directed by Martin Scorsese.  I am excited to see this movie.
Brian Selznick nas a new book out now, "Wonderstruck", in the same heavily illustrated format. I haven't read it yet, but it is sitting on the table at home waiting for me. New book, new movie, YAY!

Free Movie Today!!!

Today at 400 PM, Brianne is showing the movie, “Diary of a Wimpy Kid: Roderick Rules“. All ages welcome. No charge!

Library cards

There is a policy now in effect concerning your library card-- You need to present your card to check out any item from the library. You also need to bring your card to use the computers. 

If you have lost your card, you can get a new one for one dollar. The new ones have key tags, so are easier to keep with you!

Labor Day

The library will be closed, Monday, September 5th, in honor of Labor Day. we will reopen at 9:00 AM. Tuesday, September 6th. Wishing all of you a safe and fun Labor Day weekend!

Preschool Story Time Returns!

Preschool Story Time begins tomorrow, Thursday, September 1st! We meet at 10:00 in the Clymer room. Story Time is for kids ages 3-5 but everyone is welcome.  See you there!

There is still time to pick up your 2011 Summer Reading Program prizes. August 31 is the deadline.

Picture Day is Coming

If you haven't already done it, Monday, August 8, 2011, is the last day to get your picture taken. If you reached the "picture in the paper" prize level in this year's summer reading program, come in any time during library hours on August 8th, and we will take your picture.  We will be turning the pictures in to the paper next week!

If you earned your picture in the newspaper prize in this year's Summer Readubg Program, today is the day to get your picture taken! Come to the library today and we will take your picture. If you can't make it in today, come on Monday, August 8. If you can't be here either day, let us know.

Time to record your reading minutes for this year's Summer Reading Program, is rapidly drawing to a close. Friday, July 29, at 5:00 PM is the deadline. If you have been putting it off, now is the time to take care of it! If you are having trouble recording your time, call the children's department at 316-321-3363, and we will be happy to help you.
